2010 Election submitted by Elsie Kenny, Election Committe Chairperson
The votes were cast, the ballots were counted, and the results were announced at the Annual Meeting held on June 26th. The Judge of Elections mailed out 3,003 ballots - only 22% of them were returned - 634 of the returned ballots were valid - 19 were disqualified. This is even less than we had in past years. I cannot stress enough the importance of residents becoming more involved in the Community.

On behalf of the Election Committee, I congratulate the new board members and sincerely hope their term in office, although challenging, will be a very successful one. If they succeed in attaining all that they spoke of while running for office, our community should benefit greatly. However, they cannot do it alone. It is our responsibility, as residents, to be a member in good standing and to become active. That is the only way we can make A Pocono Country Place a community to be proud of.
This was the first year that we had an outside Judge of Elections responsible for the mailing and counting of ballots in addition to ruling on all challenges/protests received. This not only relieved the Election Committee of a great deal of work, but it also removed any reason to question or challenge the election process. We thank Debbie Boyle and her staff for accepting this position and commend her for a "job well done!" It was a pleasure to be associated with her.
This was also the first year that we videotaped the Meet the Candidates Meetings. I want to personally thank Frank Lemmo and Dave Hallberg for all the work they did to get the video on Channel 80 and the website. I know it wasn't an easy job; there were a lot of bumps in the road that no one expected. However, they never gave up (even working at home). We hope all of the residents had an opportunity of viewing these meetings and that the videos helped make their selection of candidates a lot easier.
Although our job is not quite over as we have a post-election meeting, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my committee for all their help and cooperation - Cathi & Dave Armanini, Angela Carboneri, Jeannette & Al Cartolano, Bonnie & Mike Coogan, Doris Robinson, Joan Teicher, Barbara & Roland Zeh and Don Sullivan who had to leave the committee in April when he was appointed to the board.
